You just started marketing your new business on the web. You submit your website link (URL) to Google search engine (a well known free web search engine). After waiting two to three weeks, your business sales increase big time! You are actually getting customers via Google search engine or one of its partners (such as Yahoo and AOL). About a week later, your business sales drop! What happened?
Well, here it is...the Google Myth!
What happened is your website link (URL) has been eliminated from Google database and therefore the number of new customers has dropped since they cannot find you by searching the web via the top three search engines. Why did this happen?
Here's Google response to this myth:
"Thank you for your email. We understand that your site is showing up in our results for a short time, and then dropping out completely. Results in our index change regularly based on ongoing, automated processes aimed at improving the quality and content of our search results. Changes you may observe include, but are not limited to, addition of new sites, changes in the ranking of existing sites, sites falling out of the index or getting dropped and site's content fluctuating between old and new content.
We realize these changes can be confusing. However, as stated above, these processes are completely automated and not indicative of wrong-doing or penalization of individual sites. Inclusion and ranking in Google is a free service. We currently include over 3 billion pages in our index and it is certainly our intent to represent the content of the Internet fairly and accurately. The ongoing changes you have observed are part of this effort.
While there are no guarantees that your page will consistently appear in our index or appear with a particular rank, we do offer guidelines on our website for building a "crawler-friendly" site. You can find these guidelines at http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html . Following these guidelines may increase the likelihood that your site will show up consistently in Google search results.
We hope the information we have provided above is helpful to you. Due to the tremendous volume of information and help requests we receive, we are not always able to provide personal attention to questions pertaining to individual websites. If this response did not adequately resolve your question, we hope that you will visit the webmaster section of our site at http://www.google.com/webmasters/. In an effort to better address your needs, we've dedicated this entire section of our website to answering common webmaster questions, listing Google's quality requirements and recommendations, and much more.
Regards,
The Google Team"
After you receive Google response, you go crazy trying to make sure your website pages are "robot-friendly". Sadly, the same thing happens over and over, month after month.
Well now I give you the truth about this Google Myth!
The reason your website is dropped from Google database is because Google keeps several databases with different information. The beginning of the month, your website link shows up on Google. This is because Google is using the database with up-to-date information for its searches. In the middle of the month, your website link disappears from Google search database because Google is using a different database with older information (not up-to-date) for its searches. Later, towards the end of the month, you notice other changes and/or sites dropped on Google. This is because Google is using another different database for its searches with much older information. This truth about the Google Myth can be verified by checking the Google cached website pages at different times in the month.
In summary, you will always keep having your website dropped from Google each month until all Google databases are fully updated with all your website links. At that time, someone else's website will face the dilemma of the Google Myth!
